The Write to Rave by Debris Stevenson

The Write to Rave is an immersive live performance reflecting about the political power of rave culture:

Who has the right to rave,

to dance and move freely?

What does it need to feel

truly free in your own skin?

Working with a group of young people from GLOW in Runcorn and Widnes, Debris Stevenson has co-created a performance inspired by her ongoing development  of The Write to Rave. Debris is a dyslexic writer, Grime poet, working-class academic, pansexual ex-Mormon and Bashment dancing social activist who explores the intersectional, unexpected and unjust - ideally whilst making you laugh and/or dance.

This ambitious new immersive experience is being developed as part of Liberty UK Festival 2022. When the final show is produced this year, there will be six stories to experience while you rave. Join us for a special sneak preview performance of the first of those stories, which explores the journey of a group of humans trying their best to rave whilst the world tries its best to stop them.

Dancing social activist Debris Stevenson has worked in 30 countries, her debut show Poet in da Corner premiered at The Royal Court in 2018, and she is currently developing several TV shows.

This is Corby by Core Create

"It's 2am and across the town, several teenagers lay awake, contemplating the things that really matter. Devised by Core Create, 'This Is Corby' tells the stories that young people want the people around them to hear. This work was inspired by the work of Kae Tempest and Jess Green and features poetry, physical theatre and snowballs!"

Core Create is a group of young people aged 12-18 who meet regularly to work with a local theatre practitioner to create new performance work and explore different skills of creative writing, devising, performing and the technical aspects of live performance.
